It was definitely the last day. What a roller coaster! It all started when our alarm didn’t go off in our room – four girls rushing to pack and shower in the 13 minutes we had before our bus left. It was so intense! And even though it was 6 in the morning, when we were on the bus, the group I hung out with - about 10 boys and girls - giggled and laughed so hard all the way to breakfast (and I suppose the rest of the day).
The real fun began, though, when it was time to catch our flight home and we were informed that our tickets had been canceled! The airlines rerouted all 26 of us to NYC then down to Atlanta. We left the Atlanta airport at 1:00 a.m. for the hotel, and left the hotel at 5:00 a.m. (the same night!) to catch our 7:00 am flight to Salt Lake. In Salt Lake, we had an 8 hour layover. Needless to say, we were far beyond ready to be home in Montana. However, during those extra 24 hours, the kids from our state were able to bond like never before, because of what we’d experienced during the entire week (and the extra flights home) together.

I had never been serenaded, but all of that changed during the last night of YLC, when my buddy, Ben ( Texas) did a fine job of singing a love song to me. One night during the Annual Meeting, I went to dinner with Ben and my state president, Bob Evans, at Emeril’s in Universal Studios. It was the best dinner of my life! And the dessert I took back to the hotel to share with my roommates, Ashley Johnson and Brooke Didier, made the three of us so hyper, we invented the “Fat Octopus” routine! It was great sharing our lovely routine at the talent show with everyone the last night, but too sad to say good-bye.
